We wanted to make sure that we didn't list the female athletes that you will never see during the telecast. Every female athlete in this post are medal contenders in their respective events and a few could win the gold.
This list of the 12 hottest/sexiest female athletes who will compete in the 2012 Olympics come from a wide range of sports. We have ladies who compete in track and field, soccer, tennis, swimming, etc. A few of the names will be familiar to you, but we have picked out a few sleepers who will turn heads and make appearances on every sports blog the day after their event.
Have a seat, open a Red Bull, and enjoy the view...
Melanie Adams
Pole Vault
Australia
Miss Melanie Adams is the hottest pole vaulter to come around since Allison Stokke. She does some modeling on the side and is a legit contender to medal during the 2012 Olympics. If you want to follow her on Twitter, you will find her at @MelAdamsFitness.
Victoria Pendleton
Cycling
Great Britain
The world of cycling haven't had many females break into the mainstream, but Pendleton could this year. The public will first notice her beauty, but once she gets on her bike, she will be remembered for her ability. She broke the world record in the team spring and won the individual gold medal at the Track World Championships in Melbourne, Australia. She can be found @V_Pendleton on Twitter.
Lolo Jones
Hurdles
U.S.A.
Lolo Jones will be one of the most talked about athletes in the 2012 Olympics. All eyes were already going to be on here, but she recently admitted that she is a virgin, which immediately made national headlines and Tim Tebow comparisons. She is one of the favorites to win the gold in the 100m Hurdles. Her Twitter handle is @LoloJones...and she is very active tweeter.
Christina Vukicevic
Hurdles
Norway
If you were wondering who the hot athlete was at the beginning of this post, it's Christina Vukicevic. She could find herself facing Lolo Jones at one point...set your DV-R. She is a decorated athlete with medals at many different European competitions. Her highest finish in a world competition was in 2006 when she won the silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the Junior World Championships in Beijing. Vukicevic's Twitter account is @CVukicevic...not many of her tweets are in English.
Natalie Coughlin
Swimming
U.S.A.
If you're a fan of the Summer Olympics (or body paint) you are aware of Natalie Coughlin. She has won eleven Olympic medals and at age 29, could miss out on making the team. The Olympic swimming trails are this weekend and even if she misses out on a spot, she deserves to be on this list...for aesthetic reasons. Her Twitter account is easy to remember, @NatalieCoughlin.
Caroline Wozniacki
Tennis
Denmark
The former #1 in the world is currently best known for being 'Rory McIlroy's girlfriend.' It's a shame since she is a very good player, but she has yet to win a Grand Slam. She is a long-shot to win a medal at the Olympics since she is struggling at the moment (she lost in the first round at Wimbledon). I almost gave her spot to Ana Ivanovic, but I have already declared my love for her a little too much. @CaroWozniacki is her Twitter handle...
Hope Solo
Soccer
U.S.A.
The U.S. women's soccer team is currently more popular than the men's team. It is mostly due to this country's short-term soccer memory. The country got behind the women's team last summer, but was upset in the World Cup final. Hope Solo took a lot of the blame for that late-game collapse, but her appearance on "Dancing With The Stars" has erased that memory from the public's mind. Solo is beautiful and when you look at this "tastefully done" photo you understand why men propose to her from the stands. (I don't know what to call this picture, is it a nude photo? She is naked, but...I dunno) Hope Solo's Twitter account handle is @HopeSolo.
Alicia Sacramone
Gymnastics
U.S.A.
The 2008 women's gymnastics team too the silver medal, but Sacramone took a lot of heat. She faltered in her last few events, but China was so far ahead in points that it didn't really matter. She is still trying to make the team with 2008 teammates Nastia Liukin and Bridget Sloan. She tore her Achilles in October, so it would be a great story if she earned a spot. Shawn Johnson would be on this list, but she retired earlier this month. Follow @ASac3 for Alicia Sacramone's Twitter updates.
Stephanie Rice
Swimming
Australia
She owns a world record, three Olympic gold medals, and my heart. Rice is due for another big Olympics as the favorite in the events she is due to compete. Rice was once rumored to be dating
Michael Phelps, but we will not hold that against her. I guess she has a Neanderthal fetish. Rice had a mini-scandal when she tweeted a photo of her in a bikini. I don't get the basis of the scandal since she wears nearly the same thing when she swims. If you want to follow Stephanie Rice on Twitter, she's at @ItsStephRice.
Alex Morgan
Soccer
U.S.A.
You will find multiple photos for the next three female athletes...I couldn't post just one.! Hope Solo wasn't the only breakout star from the 2011 Women's World Cup. Alex Morgan came out of nowhere, scored key goals, and has the 'girl next door' look. After the Cup ended, she was rumored to be dating every major star including New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. I will definitely tune in to watch Morgan and it helps that Solo will share the screen. @AlexMorgan13 is where you can find Alex Morgan's Twitter account.Soccer
U.S.A.
Darya Klishina
Long Jump
Russia
I couldn't go through a list of 12 female athletes without adding a Russian. Darya Klishina is a contender to medal in the long jump at the 2012 Olympics. She placed 4th in the World Indoor Championships earlier this year and dominated the European Championships last year. I don't see Klishina mentioned much on sports blogs. The reason could be is that she is a tad under-the-radar. During the Olympics, her pictures will be posted more than Erin Andrews' photos during college football season. Klishina does have a Twitter account @DaryaKlishina, but she appears to be more active on her Facebook page.
Leryn Franco
Javelin
Paraguay
I have saved the best for last. Leryn Franco has been the go-to female athlete when sports blogs make lists of the sexiest female athletes of *fill in the blank*. She is a model and Olympic athlete...that's a dual threat! The chances of her earning a medal at the 2012 Olympic games in London are slim and none, but it will be must-see television. NBC's ratings will surely spike for short periods of time. If you understand Spanish, @LerynFranco is where you can find her Twitter account.
