NFL Week 5: Fantasy Football Sit/Start

My week 4 fantasy football sit/start post did pretty well. Steve Smith of the New York Giants caught everything, Vernon Davis had another big week, the Ravens running backs helped fantasy owners, and Visanthe Shiancoe caught a touchdown on Monday Night. I predicted a few sits from last week that came through. Willie Parker couldn't even play and Thomas Jones is a shell of himself. Week 5 has some nice match-ups and see who you need to pick up on the waiver wire. Here is my fantasy football sit/start for Week 5.

START'EM

Ben Roethlisberger - I will keep starting any quarterback that faces the Detroit Lions not named Jason Campbell. He had a nice showing on WWE Raw and hopefully he hits the film and doesn't get distracted by the WWE Divas.

Chris Johnson - The Colts have looked great the last couple weeks, but they weren't facing any great running back. They still have trouble against the run and Chris Johnson will have a nice week.

David Garrard - He had a coming out party against the weak Tennessee secondary. He should have a pretty nice week against Seattle.

Mike Sims-Walker - This pick goes along with Garrard having a good week. Sims-Walker is being targeted non-stop and will get some throws to him.

DeSean Jackson - He is starting to cement his status as a #1 receiver in the NFL. He has an ability to do amazing things after the catch.

Pierre Garcon - Tennessee has a weak secondary and someone will be open. Garcon will have his opportunities and he is also like Jackson, he has the ability to gain a lot of yards after the catch.

Ray Rice/Willis McGahee - I can't pick just one of these backs....they will also be in as a duo until they play a good team or one of them gets injured, then LeRon McClain will be added.

Pittsburgh Steelers Defense - They play the Lions and I think that he will have trouble against their defense. Troy Polamalu will probably not play, but even if he doesn't, I still like the Steeler defense against the Lions.

Vernon Davis - He is the main target for Shaun Hill and he will keep targeting him, Davis is having a breakout year.

Knowshon Moreno - Correll Buckhalter is injured and Moreno will have most, if not all, of the carries. New England has some injuries on defense and will have trouble against Moreno. Peyton Hillis could see some carries, but I wouldn't expect that he would vulture any touchdowns away from Moreno.

Steve Smith - Even if Eli Manning can't start this weekend, Steve Smith will be the #1 target for David Carr. The Giants love Smith and he has great hands.

Percy Harvin - The Vikings are playing the Rams and they are horrible. Harvin can get some screen passes and take them to the house. He should have a big week against St. Louis.

Nate Burleson - I have been waiting for him to really have a monster week and I feel like it could be this week. He plays the Jaguars and I really like the matchup.

Kenny Britt - DEEP LEAGUE START - He's only owned in 9% of leagues on ESPN and he had a 100 yard game last week. He's worth a look if you are in need of a WR or if one is on a bye week.

SIT'EM

Eli Manning - He has a injury on his planting foot and is going to have trouble. He may not even play, so he's a risky start.

Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams - The Jets are great against the run and the Dolphins are going to have trouble running against them. Ronnie Brown could get some wildcat yards, but don't expect a big week from him.

Carson Palmer - I liked him last week against the Browns, but it will be a different story against the Ravens this weekend. Palmer will have trouble and will throw a couple interceptions.

Matt Cassel - He plays Dallas this week and he will be running for his life. Dallas has gotten to the QB their last two games and Cassel will not have time to throw the ball.

Cadillac Williams - The Eagles are coming off a bye week and they will be fully rested for the Bucs. Williams will have trouble this weekend against that tough defense.

Clinton Portis - I'm going to keep hating on Portis until he does something this year. He has looked old and slow and I don't like him against Carolina.

Roy Williams - Romo has targeted Williams quite a bit the last couple games, but there has been plenty of balls that should have been caught by him that he didn't catch. Romo may have started to lose confidence in his receiver.

Deion Branch - He was drafted in the middle to late rounds in your fantasy draft, but it's about time that you cut him loose. He's the 4th option in most plays, he's done.

Houston Texans Defense - They aren't as good as they should be and they are giving up a lot of yards to opposing running backs. Arizona is their next opponent and it could be a long day.

Torry Holt - Mike Sims-Walker has emerged as the #1 option in Jacksonville and Holt is the third option at best in most plays. He is only worth a start in deep leagues.

Leon Washington - It's a new year for Washington and with Mark Sanchez at quarterback, he isn't seeing as many dump passes that he can work with. He is a true backup, not a time share running back.
